If you’ve visited the park recently you probably noticed some new construction activity in and around the Visitors Center. Here’s a summary of what’s going on.

Just after Veterans Day, work began on a new entrance vestibule for Le Jardin, the restaurant and banquet space on the north end of the building. The mild November weather enabled Project New Leaf builders to get a quick jump on the addition, which faces the main parking lot.

The elegant new entrance will have many advantages. By shielding Le Jardin from the elements, the climate inside the room will be more consistent and comfortable for guests. Improving the energy efficiency of our buildings is an ongoing priority.

The vestibule will include a coat closet for guests, plus additional storage space. A work station for our restaurant servers will enable enhanced service for guests on the outside patio.

Inside the Visitors Center, a busy winter lies ahead. Visitors will see an updated look next spring, including handsome simulated-wood flooring, new trim and fresh paint. In the main lobby, watch for an expanded information kiosk and new seating options.

Bertie’s Café and Le Jardin, each of which opened in 2008, will receive new countertops and other upgrades, including new carpeting in Le Jardin. Heating and air conditioning systems throughout the building are being updated.

We expect to complete Visitors Center construction and remodeling in March 2018. CLICK HERE to see photos of the work so far.
